The Students' Art Gallery at
Hotel
Dieu Hospital in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, was established by the
hospital in 1985 for the benefit of families whose children require
hospital treatment. The first of its kind in all of North America, the
gallery expanded several times during the first decade and is now
comprised of 100 pictures.
The exemplary artworks are
showcased at a comfortable eye-level in the hallways of the Children's
Outpatient Centre and the KidsInclusive Centre for Child & Youth
Development located near the Main Lobby. New exhibitions are installed three times a year.
Paintings, drawings and multi-media constructions are submitted by
elementary and secondary schools in the
Limestone District
School Board and the
Algonquin and
Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
Contributors also include Kingston Christian School as well as community
programmes. Approximately
75,000 people walk through the gallery every year! |
